2022 Genesis G70 Sport with Luxury Pack

New G70 introduces refreshed 'Athletic Elegance' design headlined by new Quad lamp architecture with chrome and dark chrome Genesis signature Crest Grilles.

Genesis G70 brings advanced new safety and convenience technology including a 10.25-inch infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch 3D digital cluster display for Luxury Package versions, additional Genesis Active Safety Control features and 10 airbags.

New G70's enthralling rear-wheel drive dynamics and scintillating 2.0-litre turbo and 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo powertrains benefit from a new track-focused Sport+ drive mode and a revised dual-mode variable exhaust that enhances the note while taking the flagship's output to 274kW.

Luxurious new upholsteries and trims and a broader range of personalisation choices, including an expanded exterior palette, round out a compelling premium medium sedan package.

Restyled Genesis G70 brings a significantly enhanced specification that delivers greater value across the range, as well as strengthening the technology and performance package in the flagship variants.

G70 continues to offer two engines, both paired to an advanced in-house developed eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

Genesis G70 2.0T variants are powered by an efficient 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four-cylinder petrol engine producing 179kW of power and 353Nm of torque.

New G70 3.3T variants are powered by a revised 274kW, 510Nm twin-turbocharged petrol V6, with the modest power increase achieved through changes to the dual-mode variable exhaust system.

In addition, every Genesis G70 3.3T comes standard with a Sport package that brings a myriad of styling and performance enhancements.

Key new range-standard safety equipment for Genesis G70 includes rear side airbags and a segment-first front centre side airbag, taking the total airbag count to 10.

An expanded Genesis Active Safety Control package now includes the following systems in addition to an already extensive suite of advanced driver assistance technologies:

Newly standard comfort and convenience features include a 10.25-inch Satellite Navigation Infotainment system, a Panorama Sunroof, an 8.0-inch supervision instrument cluster, and heated and ventilated front seats.

Two optional packages are offered for Genesis G70 – Sport Line Package and Luxury Package – to build on the model's already impressive standard equipment list.

Luxury Package now incorporates a range of additional features headlined by a 12.3-inch full screen digital Instrument cluster with 3D function.

The package also incorporates additional safety tech in the form of a Forward Attention Warning (FAW), as well as an Intelligent Front-Lighting System (IFS), a power operated boot, and sound-insulating acoustic laminated front door glass.

Genesis G70 is available in an expanded choice of 15 matte, mica and metallic exterior colours across Sport and standard styling, paired with seven interior luxury trims.

EXTERIOR STYLING

Genesis G70 makes a bold first impression with a new Quad lamp LED headlight architecture flanking a signature Genesis crest grille featuring a chrome surround and insert.

Below each headlight, air curtain inlets provide definition and well as helping reduce aerodynamic drag.

A long dashboard to front axle ratio and short overhangs emphasize G70's rear wheel drive athleticism and create a subtly cabin-rearwards silhouette

Air guide exits add visual interest and a sporty touch to the front mudguards while body-coloured door handles with capacitive touch lock/unlock contribute to a smooth and clean look.

Every Genesis G70 now rides on staggered-width 19-inch alloy wheels that create a more athletic look compared with the 18-inch wheels previously worn by 2.0T variants.

Bulging rear mudguards filled by broad, 255-section tyres create a muscular stance, while a duck tail boot and Quad lamp taillights, twin ovoid exhaust outlets and a body-coloured diffuser (3.3T models) add the finishing touches.

Sport Line versions further develop the sense of athletic elegance through a dark chrome Daylight Opening (DLO) garnish, black G Matrix air guides, dark chrome and black sports-type crest grille, and 19-inch Sport alloy wheels.

G70's aerodynamic body design, with help from an almost flat underbody, realises an exceptionally low coefficient of drag (cd) of 0.28, as well as assisting to increase high-speed stability and reduce fuel consumption.

INTERIOR STYLING

G70's driver-focused, low and horizontal layout contributes to a sense of width and space in the cabin, which radiates luxury and athleticism.

Newly luxurious touches include richly tactile G Matrix style quilting and classy geometric patterned trim inserts.

Headlining the tech updates is a 10.25-inch Satellite Navigation and Infotainment unit and, in Luxury Package versions, a 12.3-inch 3D virtual instrument cluster.

Sport and Sport Line styling with Luxury Package bring, in addition, a suede headlining and pillar covers, Sport-style swirl patterned aluminium trim inserts, and sports pedals.

These flagship variants also bring Nappa Leather upholstery in a choice of vibrant Sevilla Red, sophisticated Sandstorm Grey and classic Sport black among the selection of seven interior colours across Sport and standard styling.

CHASSIS AND TUNING

New G70 features an Australian-specific tune for the suspension and steering, developed over thousands of kilometres across a range of challenging urban roads, highways, mountain passes, country roads and high-speed closed circuits.

The tune for G70's suspension carries into the new model from the settings honed when the model was first developed.

Every 3.3T variant features Genesis Adaptive Control Suspension (GACS), which allows for the optimum, driver-adjustable balance of comfort and refinement with performance.

The GACS system includes Electronic Control Suspension (ECS) and Dynamic Stability Damping Control (DSDC).

Based on vehicle sensors, such as g-force (wheel and body), steering angle, steering velocity and throttle position, as well as the vehicle Drive Mode, ECS provides the optimal damping force for each wheel.

The system can intelligently adjust compression and rebound forces up to 100 times per second using continuously variable dampers, which in practice means an almost instantaneous adjustment of damping force, in response to the slightest application of steering, or as a pre-emptive response to a bump in the road.

To enhance G70's dynamic handling, all variants now wear 19-inch wheels wrapped in high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tyres – 225/40 front and 255/35 rear.

The G70's state of the art, responsive, rack-mounted Electric Power Steering (EPS) system gives the driver heightened feel, directness and road-surface feedback compared to a column-mounted system.

A Variable Gear Ratio (VGR) steering rack makes the 3.3T models easy to manoeuvre at low vehicle speeds as well as giving maximising stability for small steering manoeuvers at high vehicle speeds.

Genesis G70 2.0T Sport Line and all 3.3T variants feature a mechanical limited slip differential (LSD) and larger Brembo brakes – four-piston Monobloc front and two-piston Monobloc rear calipers – with rear brakes upgraded to ventilated discs.

SAFETY

An advanced monocoque engineered with the extensive use of hot stamped Advanced High Strength Steel gives G70 superb dynamics, immense cabin refinement and excellent occupant protection.

Genesis G70 advances its safety credentials with the airbag count increased to 10, with the inclusion of two rear side airbags and a segment-first front centre side airbag.

The ANCAP five-star-rated G70 also brings additional Genesis Active Safety Control advanced driver assistance systems.

Forward Collision Avoidance (FCA-Car/Ped/Cyc/JT)

Extra functionality has been included in new G70's Forward Collision Avoidance-Assist (FCA) system. A Junction Turning collision avoidance function can mitigate the risk of collision when a driver is turning right across the path of oncoming traffic.

Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist – Rear (BCA-R)

In addition to providing a Blind Spot Collision Warning, the system can now monitor G70's position within a lane and determine whether there are vehicles in the blind-spot zone that may present a collision risk if the driver changes lane. If the driver indicates and moves into the path of a vehicle approaching from behind, the system can mitigate the collision risk by applying braking, to steer away from the vehicle.

Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance-Assist (RCCA)

The system can now apply braking if it detects a potential collision when reversing. Using rear-mounted radar sensors, it can detect vehicles travelling perpendicular to G70's path when in reverse, bringing the car to a full stop if necessary.

Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM)

A Blind-Spot View Monitor presents the driver with a convenient live video image of the left or right vehicle blind-spot in the instrument cluster. The BVM image appears automatically when the turn signals are operated, to help make lane changes safer.

Safe Exit Warning (SEW)

A Safe Exit Warning function helps prevent an occupant from exiting the vehicle while an approaching vehicle is detected in the blind spot. A warning is issued if an occupant is exiting in the path of a vehicle, to reduce the likelihood of an accident.

Rear Occupant Alert (ROA)

A Rear Occupant Alert prompts the driver to check the rear seats as they exit their vehicle. G70 can detect if the rear doors or boot have been opened and will alert the driver, to help prevent any rear passengers or items being left in the vehicle.

Lane Following Assist (LFA)

A Lane Following Assist function provides steering assistance to help the driver keep the vehicle centred in the lane. It uses the windscreen-mounted camera to detect lane markings and vehicles ahead, and operates at speeds up to 200km/h.

If one or both lane markings are unclear, the vehicle will create a virtual lane or follow the path of the vehicle ahead.

Surround View Monitor (SVM)

A Surround View Monitor is now standard in G70. It presents a bird's eye view of the vehicle and its surroundings on the new 10.25-inch multimedia display to make tight parking manoeuvres easy, and offers multiple selectable angles and views. Surround View Monitor automatically activates when reversing and can be summoned at other times with a touch of the parking view button.

Reverse Light Guide

A reverse light guide gives nearby pedestrians a clear visual indication that G70 may reverse across their path, as well as providing a useful guide for the driver when manoeuvring in reverse.

Forward Attention Warning (FAW) – Luxury Package

Vehicles equipped with the 12.3-inch 3D instrument cluster (as part of the Luxury Package) also gain a Forward Attention Warning function that uses an infrared camera in the cluster.

The FAW system determines whether the driver is focused on the road, based on information such as the amount of time the driver is looking elsewhere. If the system judges that the driver is not focused, a visual warning is provided and an alert is sounded.

Intelligent Front-Lighting System (IFS) – Luxury Package

For Luxury Package vehicles, G70's new Quad Lamp headlight architecture houses a matrix of LEDs as part of an Intelligent Front-Lighting System. The IFS system functions as an extension of High Beam Assist (HBA), dimming zones of the high beam to eliminate the chance of dazzling nearby drivers, rather than reverting to low-beam headlights.

IFS operates at night, at speeds of 40km/h or more while HBA is enabled, and can also be adjusted to operate at lower speeds via the vehicle settings menu.

12.3-inch 3D instrument cluster – Luxury Package

G70 Luxury Package vehicles feature a 12.3-inch full screen stereoscopic 3D instrument cluster that recognises the driver's eyes through a cluster mounted camera and outputs the display in 3D without the need for special glasses.

The 3D cluster has three themes, which can also be linked to the vehicle Drive Mode.

New 10.25-inch Navigation System

An advanced, 10.25-inch widescreen Navigation System in G70 presents information in intuitive menus and incorporates split-screen functionality and features such as Sounds of Nature, privacy mode and voice memo.

Full-screen navigation and Apple CarPlay are presented with crisp clarity, and the Surround View Monitor display is presented in high resolution.

The system also includes a 'custom' button on the steering wheel that can be mapped to numerous functions, and the option for multiple Bluetooth connections, to allow the easy switching between Bluetooth media sources.

8.0-inch LCD cluster

An updated LCD and analogue cluster now features a larger display that presents the driver with at-a-glance safety system information and warnings.

Heated and ventilated front seats

Every G70 now comes with ventilated front seats. Heating and ventilation functions can be activated by the driver and front passenger, or automatically activated using the auto comfort control feature, which is accessible in the climate control settings.

Electro Chromic Mirrors (ECM)

Every G70 is now equipped with ECM exterior rear-view mirrors. These auto-dimming side mirrors help reduce glare when driving at night. They also feature power adjustment and power folding, and incorporate puddle lamps and a heating function, for complete convenience.

Panorama glass sunroof

A panorama glass sunroof is standard for Genesis G70, featuring wide, one-touch power-operated sliding glass, and a power sunblind finished to match the interior.

Touch Type Front Door Handles

New capacitive door locking and unlocking pads are cleverly incorporated into G70's front door handles, replacing conventional buttons to create a clean side profile. G70 can now be locked with a light press of the touch pad while holding the smart key. Unlocking G70 is as simple as grabbing the handle to open the door – no need to touch the smart key.

Improved Qi wireless charger

An improved Qi standard wireless smartphone charger now accommodates larger devices, provides an increased output of 15W for quicker charge times, and features an integrated cooling fan.

Power operated boot – Luxury Package

Luxury Package vehicles now feature a power operated boot, which can be operated using buttons located on the boot, in the cabin, and on the smart key.

Laminated front door glass – Luxury Package

For Luxury Package versions, the use of acoustic laminated glass is extended from the windscreen to the driver and front passenger door glass, further reducing cabin noise levels.

Sport+ Drive Mode

Genesis G70 features an additional Sport+ drive mode. Sport+ further increases engine responsiveness and throttle sensitivity, engages enhanced gearbox logic, and turns the traction control off. Sport+ in 3.3T variants also calls on a track mode suspension setting that tightens body and roll control to an engaging and dynamic level.

Active Variable Exhaust

Genesis G70's 3.3-litre turbo V6 powertrain is paired with a new active variable exhaust that brings an enhanced exhaust tone in the normal drive mode as well as a power increase to 274kW.

The variable exhaust is linked to G70's drive modes and generates even more theatre when Sport or Sport+ modes are engaged. Active variable exhaust profiles can also be selected for the user's custom drive mode.
